Product Description
Unbeknownst to mortals, a power struggle is unfolding in a world of shadows and danger. After centuries of stability, the balance among the Faery Courts has altered, and Irial, ruler of the Dark Court, is battling to hold his rebellious and newly vulnerable fey together. If he fails, bloodshed and brutality will follow. Seventeen-year-old Leslie knows nothing of faeries or their intrigues. When she is attracted to an eerily beautiful tattoo of eyes and wings, all she knows is that she has to have it, convinced it is a tangible symbol of changes she desperately craves for her own life. The tattoo does bring changes—not the kind Leslie has dreamed of, but sinister, compelling changes that are more than symbolic. Those changes will bind Leslie and Irial together, drawing Leslie deeper and deeper into the faery world, unable to resist its allures, and helpless to withstand its perils. . . .

Ink Exchange August 14, 2010 Z. M. (Utah, USA) I liked the beginning. It's the middle that was too slow. I liked the main character a lot. She was strong and independent and found a way to channel her anger. She was a very admiral person. But I didn't like the story very much and what it did to the character. She was all those things, until she got her tattoo. All of sudden she's obsessed with some guy she's never met. Yes it's true that's what the tattoo was supposed to do. I should have accepted that, but the whole time I just kept getting more upset. It's a creative story, but some of the other characters were feeble. I got to the point where I loathed the king, not just disliked. I kept slapping the book down when I became mad and it took me quite awhile to finish this book. It was a good book despite all my other complaints.
Dark and interesting exploration of Marr's world of faery August 10, 2010 She Reads and Dreams This is the second book in Marr's Wicked Lovely series. The first was all about Aislinn and Keenan, the Summer King and Queen and this one is about Aislinn's friend, Leslie, who manages to get caught up in the world of faery when she chooses to have a tattoo inked on her skin that ties her to the King of the Dark Court, Irial. Toss in a compelling attraction between Leslie and another faery, Niall, and you have the makings of a good, dark book.
There is a growing movement in YA fiction towards stark, gritty realism whether it be in the form of death, eating disorders or abuse. This book frames Leslie as someone who survived a gang rape sanctioned by her drug dealer brother. This isn't a key feature of the book and is never explored in detail (thank goodness) but that event informs all of Leslie's decisions and goes some way towards understanding why she makes the decisions she does.
Leslie's destruction at the hands of the Dark Court is hard to watch and while she manages to come out of it towards the end, her journey isn't a pleasant one, even as it makes for compelling reading.
There are some plot issues in this book - a major twist is casually dropped into character exposition when so much more could have been made of it; a few plots go nowhere (this is probably because this book is part of a series) and there is no real resolution for Leslie who moves into a sort of holding pattern, returning to a mortal life while the faeries who love her bide their time in the shadows.
I enjoy Marr's writing and I'll read the next two books in the series but I'll borrow them from the library rather than buy them.
Great! July 31, 2010 Carla At first I was disappointed to read that Aislinn was not the main character, but after a few pages I got very interested. I started enjoying the new character's point of view in a world so similar to reality even though faeries are involved. All people have a good and a bad side. This book manages to show both sides of the characters, I fell in love even with "the bad guys". I loved it!(Even more than Wicked Lovely)
Ink Exchange July 1, 2010 Katie Cooper (EUGENE, OR, US) This book was sent right away. I got it within the week. It was not damaged or anything. Over all i'm very satisfied.
Don't let the cover convince you! June 19, 2010 When I picked this book up, I thought it would be an interesting, exciting read. I can't believe how wrong I was. The characters were completely dull, and I wasn't exactly sure what the plot was until the very end. Marr tried too hard to make the reader sympathetic toward Leslie. It ended up being annoying and derivative. If you absolutely must read it, borrow it. It's not worth your money.
