Good History and Information of a General Sort January 28, 2010 C. Farley (Bakersfield, CA USA) This was probably intended to be a book for beginners, but it had such a good name I had hoped for a little more. There is a lot of information on slang, terms used in the Tattoo biz. Plus a substantial nod to the bad old days when Tats were not only uncool, but really dangerous. It marked one forever as a criminal, outcast or other person to be avoided. Hooray those days are OVER. My tattoo artist gets the vibe totally when she refers to her female clients as,"She who would be art." Good discussion too about common design elements in tattoos and the history behind each element. So if you ever needed to know why you were so motivated to get that three color dragon tattoo on your bum--well, this just might be the place to find out.
INK January 25, 2010 Pale Rider (Lancaster, PA USA) Terisa Green does an amazing job with this very informative and succinct book. It covers EVERYTHING regarding the process of getting a tattoo, and there are just enough pictures & Illustrations. It should be the FIRST book anybody gets if they are interested in getting a tattoo, (or a tattoo removed). WELL WRITTEN & WELL RESEARCHED! Love her sense of humor!!!
Wasn't what I thought it was July 13, 2009 S. Criswell (New Jersey) 1 out of 9 found this review helpful
This wasn't what I thought I was getting. I sent it back. I wanted a book with ideas and pictures.
RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE! January 27, 2009 J. Young 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My mom got this for both me and my boyfriend (who is a tattoo artist and we will be opening our own studio this winter) we both read it cover to cover and we both recommend this to everyone, to anyone's first tattoo to long time tattoo artists! She covers health with a tattoo beautifully! A must read and have!
For beginners November 27, 2008 J. Munger (atlanta, ga) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
It's a fine book if you really are nervous about your first, but if you already have one much of the text will be unnecessary.
It does tell you about looking for a shop and how to compare artists on more than just price. Plus, it gently reminds you to really consider a tattoos permanence.
