Product Description The scene of tribal conflicts and guerrilla incursions, Ethiopia’s Omo Valley is also home to fascinating rites and traditions that have survived for thousands of years. The nomadic people who inhabit the valley share a gift for body painting and elaborate adornments borrowed from nature, and Hans Silvester has captured the results in a series of photographs made over the course of numerous trips.

Fabulous reality July 25, 2010 P. Boyd (Lancaster, Ca USA) I was referred this book by a friend, this book has not let me down. I love each page. Beauty is just what you see in each culture and not what you think it should be. I love the natural use of what is available and the creative use of color and texture. What a treat this book is and a delight to my vusual senses.
Beautiful arrays of imagination May 27, 2010 S Day This book makes a great gift for any person interested in tribal cultures. The photos are quiet, tasteful studies in creativity and beauty of nature and subject, that, although the book is titled "Natural Fashions", deal not so much with clothing (which the word "fashion" likely calls to the minds of many readers) but with body art and modification that incorporates style elements found in the natural environment of tribal people. The poignant beauty of this primitive (but VERY detailed and artistic)body painting is a way of life, and the variety of plants and flowers these people incorporate into their elaborate body art is exquisite. I'd recommend any of Hans Silvester's photography books; apparently, he has many more. Wonderful eye for form, light and texture.
beautiful book May 16, 2010 Allysha Hueter Teoh (sydney Australia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this book today and I am also compelled to write a review in rebuttal to the one star nonsense that was written earlier by 'simply ridiculous'. I think as a matter of fact what was said in that one star rating was 'simply ridiculous'! This book is stunning and the Title befits the content which is 'Natural Fashion' and not 'Indigenous Fashion' as what the one star comment was all about. I highly recomend this book to anyone who appreciate beauty and nature. It is a stunning book. The images literally took my breath away.

Beautiful arrays of imagination....totally natural and instinctive with plenty of playfulness and humor. Some aestatic sense these people have! You can feel the warmth and sincerity of the affection and appreciation that Hans Silvester must have had and successfully conveyed to these people, because that feel is what you get flipping through these images.
