2 out of 5 stars save your money   January 14, 2010

This book is only for beginners that have never held a tattoo machine. It has a little useful information, but it is poorly written, poorly edited, and scattered. The author starts down a path of useful, needed information, but then glosses over the IMPORTANT info, and rambles onto the next subject without actually telling you anything of value. For only 100 pages of text, written in HUGE childlike font, it is not worth the $25...

4 out of 5 stars tattoo guide   December 30, 2009

I liked this book for a few reasons. It seemed to be written the way the author spoke with no attempts to sound anything more than he is which made it an easy book to read. He did not sugar coat or over complicate anything. It was easy to follow and comprehend. He also gave other good resources to check out What I did not like was that some things that i thought should be in the book were not and were referenced to other books. However its not my book. Overall it is a good book and well worth taking a look at.

5 out of 5 stars Just what I needed   December 26, 2009
Rosco (New Zealand)
As a person just starting out in tattooing this book was just what I needed. The sections on setting up machines, details of the the minimum equipment required and details about needles and ink were extremely useful.

I had already completed a few tattoos prior to reading this book but I now feel much better informed and confident to continue in this art form.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT APPRENTICE BOOK   June 30, 2009

I'm not an apprentice tattooer but I bought this book because I own the other two in this series. I wish I had this when I first started out! It would have saved me lots of headaches and lots of money on supplies I didn't need! Answers a lot of questions an apprentice will have. This is a great book that should be read by every apprentice.

4 out of 5 stars An exceptional book for beginners   February 25, 2009

Aside from the poor grammar and typos in this book (This book really should be proof-read before it goes to additional printings), Mr. Alayon shares a wealth of information here. His writing style works as if he is there with you, showing you how this craft is done. Helpful photos and even a page or two of "practice flash" are included. Anyone who is new to the art of tattooing will definitely benefit from this book.
